What's in a Name?

Maxton Henry Lutz

A name- it is part of your identity...something people recognize you by before they know who you really are. For us deciding on our baby girls name was easy and our prayer is that she loves it as much as we do!

Meanings-

Maxton: The Greatest

Henry: Ruler of the home

When we named Grace it was easy there was no question in our minds what her name would be and the meaning behind her name has so much significance in our life that it just fit. When we went to pick out a name for our baby boy it was a little trickier. We both loved Max but Jeremy prefers names have a nickname. IE: Grace is Gracie, well Max couldn't be Maxie! So we researched and found Maxton. I love names with meaning and significance. My hope for Max is that he is the greatest. The greatest husband to his future wife, the greatest father to his future children, the greatest witness to God for his family and friends, the greatest warrior for his God. Our job as his parents are to prepare him and guide him to be The Greatest that he can be.

Maxton is Scottish and is the name of a settlement on the Scottish border. When I learned this it made me love his name even more. When I was 14 I traveled to Scotland and learned the Little (my maiden name) was the name of a group of people that traveled the borders of Scotland and actually robbed the border towns. Not exactly something to be proud of but the link between Maxton and Little was undeniable and another reason for me to love this name. It is also the name of the kingdom that is believed to have ruled the Celtic regions surrounding the Irish sea. It brings in his heritage from my side both Irish and Scottish.

Max's middle name stumped us again. While we knew that we wanted a name from Jeremy's side of the family it was tricky to find just the right fit. Henry was Jeremy's Grandpa Lutz's middle name it is German meaning ruler of the home and ties in perfectly with his first name and our hope for him, and Jeremy's German heritage. Jeremy's Grandpa was a man of faith, love, and family. It is an honor to name our son after such a wonderful man who I had the pleasure of knowing for such a short amount of time. Max is the 5th great grandson of John Henry Lutz to carry on his name, quiet a heritage he has left if you ask me.
